LamiGlass

Lami Clear

Float glass which is laminated together using clear PVB for safety, security and many other uses. Laminated glass is manufactured by bonding a polyvinylbutyral (PVB) interlayer between two or more panes of glass using heat and pressure.

• PVB interlayer helps to retain broken fragments if the glass is broken
• Reduced risk of injury if the glass is broken
• Complies with EN ISO 12543 Glass in building. Laminated glass and laminated safety glass
• Complies with EN 14449 Glass in building. Laminated glass and laminated safety glass. Evaluation of conformity/product standard.

Safety

Safety: Laminated Glass breakage properties and impact resistance are determined and classified in accordance with EN 12600: Glass in building. Pendulum test. Impact test method and classification for flat glass.

Security

The protection provided by laminated glass against burglary or vandalism is determined and classified according to EN 356: Glass in building. Security glazing. Testing and classification of resistance against manual attack.

Bullet Resistance

The resistance to specific ballistic penetrations are determined and classified according to EN 1063: Glass in building. Security glazing. Testing and classification of resistance against bullet attack

Explosion Resistance

Minimise the risk of injury from flying glass shards, the performance is determined and classified in accordance with EN 13541: Glass in building. Security glazing. Testing and classification of resistance against explosion pressure.

Noise Reduction

Laminated glass has natural sound dampening capabilities which may be measured in accordance with EN 140: Acoustics. Measurement of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements. The values may then be expressed according to EN ISO 717: Acoustics. Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements.

Ultra-Violet Radiation

Laminated glass can be used to protect materials from fading by blocking up to 99% of ultra-violet light from the sun.

Laminated glass names and descriptions

Laminated glass construction uses a range of industry terms to describe the Glass/PVB build up. The most common reference takes the total thickness of glass and the total thickness of PVB and separates these figures with a point to identify the Laminated Glass construction.

Example
• 6.4 Laminated glass is constructed of 2 x 3mm panes of glass with 1 x 0.4mm PVB interlayer

The second way laminated glass construction can be identified is through the number of panes and number of PVB interlayer’s

Example
• 6.4 Laminated glass can also be known as 33.1 as this has 2 x 3mm panes of glass (33) combined with 1 PVB interlayer (.1)
