Conservatory Glass

ClimaGuard Blue

ClimaGuard Blue is a self-cleaning, low maintenance conservatory roof glass, it utilizes photocatalytic and hydrophilic performance to break down organic dirt that settles on the glass then sweep it away when it rains, keeping the glass cleaner for longer. ClimaGuard Blue is also a high performance roof glass, combining a g value of 24% (reflecting 76% of solar heat away from the glass) with an integrated 1.1 U value providing exceptional thermal insulation. As all of this performance is combined in one double sided, coated glass, your IGU's can be paired with clear float to achieve the optimum solution for Conservatories and other glazed roof applications.

Naming

ClimaGuard Blue is also known as ClimaGuard Blue 1.1 LM which follows the naming convention used to CE mark this product; with coatings on both sides of the glass.

Self-Cleaning - Definition & How it works once installed?

Self-Cleaning or low maintenance performance is provided by an advanced surface one coating (outer glazed surface). The durable coating requires ultra violet (UV) rays from the sun to activate, once activated the photocatalytic performance of the glass breaks down organic dirt which settles on its surface, whilst the hydrophilic action of the coating sweeps the dirt away from the glass when it rains.

Self-Cleaning glass is defined in EN 1096 part 5 - Glass in building - Coated glass - Test method and classification for the self-cleaning performances of coated glass surfaces

Activation of the Self-Cleaning coating

ClimaGuard Blue must be tempered in order to activate the Self-Cleaning coating. This tempering should take place by the fabricator before the glass is manufactured into an insulating glass unit (double or triple glazing).

Compatibility with sealants

Silicone based products should not be used where contact with, or run-off onto, the ClimaGuard Blue Self Cleaning coating can occur.

Please refer to the list of approved sealants and silicons, avoid all direct contact of the outer coated surface with silicone (sealants, sprays, suckers and gloves). Use oil free silicons and sealants.

Cleaning Guidelines

ClimaGuard Blue stays cleaner for longer. Although it requires less frequent cleaning, it is not 100% maintenance-free. For cleaning instructions, please consult our Cleaning Guidelines on the page above or at www.guardianglass.co.uk/industry/resources

Labeling of units with ClimaGuard Blue

Units installed are recommended to have a label stuck to the inner pane of glass providing additional onsite information about the ClimaGuard Blue Self Cleaning glass and providing details explaining which surface the coating is located on. The label should state:

"The unit should be glazed with this label facing inside the building, ensuring the ClimaGuard Blue Self Cleaning coating is situated on the outer surface of the window. No stickers should be applied to the ClimaGuard Blue Self Cleaning coating."

Standards

Manufactured in accordance with EN 1096: Glass in building - Coated Glass

Performance data is calculated in accordance with EN 410: Glass in building - Determination of luminous and solar characterictics of glazing

Where performance data is given for double or triple glazed units, the calculation is performed in accordance with EN 673: Glass in building - determination of thermal transmittance (U value) - Calculation method

Self-cleaning glass is defined in EN 1096 part 5 - Glass in building - Coated glass - Test method and classification for the self-cleaning performances of coated glass surfaces
